Iran Nuclear Drive May End Arming Terrorists,Barak Tells CNN...

iran is determined to build nuclear weapons will result in countries like Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Turkey in search of nuclear weapons, starting a "countdown" for terrorists to get nuclear material, the Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak said.

"People now understand that Iran is determined to achieve nuclear weapons," Barak, a former Israeli prime minister, said on CNN's "Fareed Zakaria GPS" in an interview broadcast today. "The countdown toward nuclear material in the hands of terrorists will begin, even if it takes half a generation. But more than this, they will have the nuclear umbrella to use types to intimidate neighbors around the Gulf of terrorism sponsors."
Iran could face further international sanctions after a report last week by the UN nuclear watchdog says there are "credible" evidence Iran was working on bomb components until at least 2010. The country is under four sets of UN Security Council sanctions.
Iran, the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries' second-largest producer, has rejected the accusation, calling it fake evidence, saying it only wants nuclear energy.
Barak also predicted the fall of the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in one year. The death of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi and Iraq Saddam Hussein have al-Assad's response to the Arab spring uprisings against his regime was "brutal, because he understands that, beyond a certain point, there is no way," Barak said. "The is literally a fight to the death. "
Speaking yesterday at a security forum in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Barak said Assad "went beyond the point of no return." "There is no way he will resume his authority or legitimacy," he said.
People in the Syrian security services, armed forces and civil services begin to determine when the end of the regime will come to "hedge their personal commitment," he said.
The international reaction, especially from the Arab League, Jordan and Turkey are "real signs that an acceleration towards the end of this regime," he said. "Probably next year we will not have a session on Syria."
